Atlanta Motorized Screens is an authorized MagnaTrack™ dealer, and MagnaTrack is the only motorized screen system we install. Here is why.
The video explains the difference well, starting at 0:25.
The short version of every comparison shopper's question, row by row.
| MagnaTrack | Zipper-track screens | |
|---|---|---|
| Service calls | 98% fewer, per MagnaTrack | Re-zip visits, often several per year |
| Track retention | Patented magnetic track, self-correcting | Fixed zipper or keder channel |
| Self-correcting | Yes. Raise and lower, and the screen refeeds itself | Needs a service call |
| Impact | Recovers from body impact | May dislodge |
| Maintenance | No zippers to jam or wear | Recurring service |
| Uneven floors | Accommodates up to a 4 inch bias | Not possible |
| Wind | Standard screens raised above 60 mph; Defender rated for 24/7 exposure | Varies by system |
fewer service calls than zipper systems
Reported by MagnaTrack.
Most retractable screens fail at the same place: the track. MagnaTrack replaced the zipper with magnets, and the four behaviors below are the result.
The screen is held by magnets, not stitched into a fixed channel. Under wind pressure the screen expands; when the pressure drops, the magnets pull it back to full tension. Nothing jams, because nothing fights the wind.
The screen edge rides a low-friction Keder interlock instead of a zipper. There is nothing to snag, hang up, or wear out, which is where competing systems generate their service calls.
If a gust ever pulls the screen edge out of the track, raise the screen above the pull-out point and lower it again. It refeeds itself on the way down. No technician, no tools.
The tracks accommodate floors out of level by up to a 4 inch bias, so a sloped patio slab or a settled porch still gets a full seal at the weighted bottom bar.
Same track, same housing, same motor. The mesh decides what the screen does, and most porches end up pairing two.
Mesh that cuts heat, glare, and UV and gives daytime privacy without blocking the view out. This is the screen for the porch coated yellow every March and the west-facing patio that goes unusable at 6pm in July.
Clear vinyl windows that seal the opening and hold heat in. Paired with a patio heater or fireplace, this is the screen that keeps the porch in service through January without giving up the view.
Heavy-duty vinyl-coated mesh, with No-See-Um-resistant and TuffScreen upgrades. Mosquito season in Atlanta runs May through September; this screen keeps it outside with the breeze still flowing.
The storm line, and the only line rated for 24/7 exposure. Built for the sites that take real wind: open lake-facing porches on Lanier, Allatoona, and Oconee, and exposed North Georgia mountain lots.
Covered porches, patios, pergolas, and garages. Face-mount tracks retrofit onto nearly any existing covered opening, and on new construction the housing and tracks recess into the ceiling and columns so the system disappears when retracted.
Restaurant patios and hospitality: extended seasons, fewer weather closures, and screens that disappear on the perfect evening. See the projects and the operators we've worked with on the commercial page.
Every MagnaTrack system carries the manufacturer's tiered limited warranty, in writing: 15 years on aluminum components, 10 years on standard screen materials, 5 years on motors, 2 years on electrical components including remotes, and 1 year on the welding and stitching of vinyl.

Yes. Atlanta Motorized Screens is an authorized MagnaTrack™ dealer, factory trained on the system, and MagnaTrack is the only motorized screen system we install. Serving Atlanta and the metro area, all the way to Lake Oconee.
Zipper-track screens stitch the screen edge into a fixed channel, so when wind or an impact pulls the edge out, the screen usually needs a service call. MagnaTrack holds the screen with a patented magnetic track and a Keder interlock with no zippers: the screen expands under wind pressure, the magnets re-tension it when the pressure drops, and if the edge ever pulls out it refeeds itself the next time you raise and lower the screen.
Raise the screen above the pull-out point and lower it again. The magnetic track refeeds the screen edge on the way down, with no technician and no tools. That self-correcting behavior is the core of the patent.
Up to 30 feet wide and 20 feet tall in one panel, with no intermediate posts. Every screen is custom fabricated to the exact opening.
The manufacturer's guidance is to raise standard screens above 60 mph. Only the Defender line is rated for 24/7 exposure, which is why we spec it for open lake-facing porches and exposed North Georgia sites.
